2.5 Month Old Baby Undergoes Rare Liver Transplantation Surgery

Prof. Dr. Yalcin Polat, MD, who is the Memorial Bahçelievler Hospital head of Organ Transplant Unit and along with his team performed a “rare” liver transplant on a two and a half- month-old baby boy weighing 5 kilos.Bosnian Ehlimana and Elmedin Husibegovic couple’s 2.5-months-old baby had a neonatal jaundice, yellowing of the palms of the hands or soles of the feet. They realized that she was diagnosed with biliary arthritis meaning congenital anomaly of the biliary tract. A liver transplantaton surgery should be performed as soon as possible.
