The first Robot‐assisted kidney transplantation in Turkey!
Prof. Dr. Volkan Tugcu, who gave speech at the 1st International Transplant Network Congress last year, performed robotic kidney transplantation to Fuat Satılmış, a 55-year-old man who was born with a single kidney and needed a kidney transplantation due to the chronic renal failure.
Professor of Urology Tugcu says that satisfactory functional outcomes can be achieved by Robot‐assisted kidney transplantation which seems to have some advantages over the open kidney transplantation. Kidney transplantation with Da Vinci is a minimally invasive technique meaning for the patients less pain, shorter drain withdrawal time, fewer complications and reduced risk of infection after the operation.
Kidney transplant is considered the best treatment option for patients with kidney failure. If you need a kidney transplantation, you must be evaluated by Memorial Transplantation Team at a Memorial Transplantion Center, where you will receive detailed information about the process.
