JCI (Joint Commission International)
Memorial Şişli Hospital is the first hospital in Turkey and 21st hospital in the world to receive JCI (Joint Commission International) Accreditation Quality Certificate.
JCI standards have been implemented during the construction phase of the hospital, and all medical and administrative processes have been designed based on JCI standards.
Via cooperation with JCI, Memorial completed the first phase of accreditation document in 2002, by being the first hospital in Turkey to receive it and 21st in the word. The successful completion of the document renewal inspections in 2005, 2008, 2011 and 2014 once again proved that the international health quality standards are a "living system" in Memorial.
What is accreditation?
Accreditation is the process of evaluating healthcare organizations by an independent body to determine whether they meet the requirements of a set of standards designed to improve the quality of care.
Joint Commission International (JCI)
The first accreditation institution in the health sector was established in 1951 as "Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals" (JCAH) with the participation of the American College of Surgeons, American College of Physicians, American Hospital Association, American Medical Association and Canadian Medical Association.
In 1987, when accreditation programs were developed for healthcare organizations other than hospitals, the name of the commission was changed to "Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations" (JCAHO).
The Joint Commission International (JCI) is the non-profit unit of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), which focuses on increasing the quality and safety of healthcare services.
Since 1999, JCAHO has started to provide accreditation services to health institutions around the world through JCI.JCI audits and accredits health institutions in more than 80 countries. Memorial Hospital is the first hospital in Turkey that was accredited by JCI.
Memorial Şişli Hospital IVF Laboratory Accreditation
Memorial Şişli Hospital URTI Center IVF Laboratory was acredited in 29 November 2011 according to 15189 Medical Laboratory Acreditation standards (DIN EN ISO 15189 Medical laboratories - Particular requirements for quality and competence), and became the first laboratory to be accredited in Turkey, and among the few in the world.
Memorial Şisli Hospital URTI Center IVF Laboratory, which was established under the presidency of Prof. Dr. Semra Kahraman with world-class technology with an experienced team, has once again blazed a trail by being accredited according to ISO 15189 Standards.
The ISO 15189 standard determines the qualification and quality requirements specific to medical laboratories. It is a standard prepared by the ISO (International Organization for Standardization) Technical Committee specific to medical laboratories. It has been accepted and implemented internationally since 2003. Its contribution to the standardization of Medical Laboratories is at a superior level in terms of its preparation and content specific to Medical Laboratories within the international standards defined for laboratories. It is the most important reference standard in terms of the quality and reliability of the ISO 15189 medical laboratory, which is valid all over the world.
The purpose of the ISO 15189 standard (DIN EN ISO 15189 Medical laboratories - Particular requirements for quality and competence) is to provide reliability in medical laboratories, the accuracy and quality needed by patients and clinical personnel in the analyzes. In addition to ISO 15189, Managerial and Technical Requirements, it offers standards that will be a reference for institutions / organizations on Medical Ethics and LBS (Laboratory Information Systems). With accreditation, clinicians who receive service from patients or laboratories are guaranteed to receive reliable, high quality and technically competent service.
