About the Department

The pelvic floor is a structure consisting of muscles, nerves and connective tissues located in the lower part of the pelvis (pelvis): It refers to the lower support base of the pelvis. This structure holds the internal organs such as the bladder, uterus (in women), prostate (in men) and rectum from below like a hammock and ensures that they function properly, painlessly and in order.

What are the functions of the pelvic floor muscles?

The pelvic floor muscles are one of the most important supporting building blocks of the body. These muscles undertake many important tasks for the proper functioning of our internal organs:

Supports organs
It holds organs such as the bladder, uterus (in women), prostate (in men) and bowel in place.
It prevents organs from hanging down (prolapse).

Provides Control of Urine and Feces
It enables us to hold and control the need to use the toilet.
Prevents urine and feces and gas leakage.

Supports Sexual Functions
It is necessary for healthy, painless sexual function in women and men.
Orgasm quality, comfort felt during intercourse and muscle control are related to these muscles.
