The only child of Ahmad and Marwa Kahya couple, Ali Safee, was diagnosed with a infant jaundice which was a yellowing of a baby’s skin and eyes after birth. This disease happens when there is too much bilirubin in the baby's blood. Most types of jaundice go away on their own. But Ali Safee from Iraq, needed treatment to lower bilirubin levels. Initial and follow up liver tests revealed that there was biliary atresia which is a rare disease of the liver and bile ducts that occurs in infants. The little baby had to be performed organ transplantation. Young couple’s son, Safee with biliary atresia had to be performed organ transplantation as soon as possible. The most common liver disease in children who need transplants is biliary atresia. This is a rare disease of the liver and bile ducts that occurs in infants. After learned unfortunate news, Kahya family began to research the best organ transplantation center all over the world. Then they decided to visit organ transplantation center at Memorial Hospitals Group in Istanbul. Ali Safee, who had chronic fatigue syndrome untill his 17 months age, because of his biliary atresia, was performed pediatric liver transplantation by Prof. Dr. Koray Acarlı, MD and his highly experienced team. After successful organ transplantation surgery, little Safee gained his healthy life.
